Loving God

Deuteronomy 10:12-13 And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, [13] To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?

This is what God required of Israel, but has it changed? No, the principle is the same. God wants us to show our love to Him. He doesn’t just want lip service but to show by our obedience and tell Him.

The Hebrew meaning of require is to inquire, to request, to demand. Let’s look at the four agenda items:

1. Fear God – We need to have a reverence of who God is. He is the great I AM, the Eternal One, Alpha & Omega.
2. Walk in all his ways – Are we walking in the way that He would have us go. Do we pray and ask Him to show us the way?
3. Love him – When we love someone we spend time with them and talk to them. Do we put time aside to spend with God?
4. Serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart & with all thy soul – How is your service to God?

All the above is what God requires of us – why! The end of the passage explains, “for thy good.” It is too hard for me to do all this you say, God knows this. We can do nothing in our own strength. But we can do everything in God’s strength and power. We need to ask God and He will enable us to do what He asks.

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Philippians 4:13

Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths.
Psalm 25:4

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
Matthew 7:7

Wow, this is certainly a tall order, but after looking at my notes from the past, I can see God never asks us to do the impossible. With God all things are possible. We need to believe in faith, that God is with us every step of the way.

Have a great day.
