Encouraged by God

[19] But when Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, heard it, they laughed us to scorn, and despised us, and said, What is this thing that ye do? will ye rebel against the king? [20] Then answered I them, and said unto them, The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build: but ye have no portion, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem. Nehemiah 2:19-20

What do we have here? The same two names appear that were recorded in verse 10, but they have another conspirator with them, Geshem the Arabian. I call them the discouragers, you know the type; no matter what is said the next words out of their mouth is discouragement or something negative. They laughed, threaten and yelled, what do you think you’re doing?

Nehemiah was ready with an answer, “God will prosper us, so we are going to get up and start working. You on the other hand have nothing to do with this work or city so don’t trouble yourselves with our affairs.”

Nehemiah was not fearful of the three instigators but knew the Lord was with him.

So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. Hebrews 13:6

Have a blessed day,
Donna
