But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his
righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33
Have you ever thought about priorities? Sure you have, we
have no choice if we have a family, a job, or attend school. To have things
“run smoothly” we need to prioritize. Even if you don’t have a neat list
written out, you know in your mind what needs to be done to have a day run
efficiently.
What is God saying in this verse? Basically He is telling
us to prioritize. He is saying, “Put Me first and I will provide for you.”
Wait the verse continues “… and his righteousness”, we
are to put Him first and his righteousness. Righteousness in this verse means “equity (of character or act);
specifically (Christian) justification…”
We need to put on a “God like” disposition.
“All these things”
is explained in the preceding verses.
31 Therefore
take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or,
Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after
all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that
ye have need of all these things. Mathew 6:31-32
