And he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, and to record, and to thank and praise the LORD God of Israel: 1 Chronicles 16:4
How would you like to apply for the job of thanking and praising the Lord? In I Chronicles David appointed people to jobs. The verse tells us that he chose some to minister before the ark, some to record (document) and some to thank and praise God.
This is our job, to thank and praise God. Unfortunately sometimes it appears that Christians think their job is to grumble and complain. We need to look around and thank and praise God for what He has given us.
There are so many things to thank Him for. Each one of us is in a different situation. Some may live in big cities and others in small rural towns, but wherever we live we need to thank the Lord. What about your job? Do you thank God for it? It does not matter what the job is, you may work at home or outside the home, thank God that you can do the things you do.
There is an older gentleman that attends our church. In the past few years his health has gone steadily downhill. He has many health issues, including difficulty in walking. The other night in prayer meeting he quietly prayed and thanked God for all His blessings. It brought tears to my eyes. He later said he did not look at the things he could not do but thanked the Lord for what he could do. This is the attitude we should have, not grumble and complain about what we have lost or cannot do, but praise and thank for what we have.
Thank and praise God today, as you do your daily activities. Make it a goal today and every day to thank Him for at least three things. Thanking and praising God is a great tradition to start.
Here are my three: salvation, my family, living in this country, the warmth of the sun, the early morning dew, quiet time with God, date night with my husband. Give it a try, what can you thank and praise God for?
Have a blessed day,
Donna
