Battles

Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him: 8 With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.
II Chronicles 32:7-8

In II Chronicles chapter 32, we we have an account of Senacherib king of Assyria entering Jerusalem to take it over. When Hezekiah king of Judah saw him coming he immediately started to strategize. He was not going to let the city go without a fight. He gathers his men and starts to immediately prepare. They stop the water supply so the Assyria army will not have water. They repair the wall, build towers and make sure they have plenty of ammunition. They are ready for the battle.

Hezekiah speaks to his men and gives them a pep talk. He reminds them to be strong and courageous. He also reminds them WHO is with them in their battles. They are not fighting the battle alone but with the Lord.

As I read this I thought of Christians today. Have times changed? Does God still fight the battles of his followers? He will not physically come and fight our battles, but He will show us how to fight our battles through His word.

What are the personal battles we have today? They may range from depression, marital problems, financial troubles, trusting. The list goes on and on. No one is exempt from troubles and problems. How we handle them is where the victory lies. Don’t handle your problems with the “arm of flesh” but with the Lord. God is there to help us and fight our battles. Trust Him.

Have a blessed day,
Donna
