Gospel gems – The great I AM

Jesus is God, the Bible bears witness to this fact by the following verses:

Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. John 8:58

And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. John 6:35

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. John 8:12

Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. John 10:7

I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.  John 10:11

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: John 11:25

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6

I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. John 15:1

And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. Exodus 3:14

Gospel gems – Don’t walk away

66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. 67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? 68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. 69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God. John 6:66-67

This is a sad portion of scripture. We all have choices to make in this life. Some of our choices will be bad (wrong) ones and some will be good (right) ones.

Many, not one or two, but many disciples turned and walked away from Jesus and His teachings. His sayings were hard and they might have to change a thing or two in their lives. The easiest thing to do was to walk away. Maybe they thought if they walked away they were not responsible for what they had been taught.

Peter had the right idea, “where will we go ? You have the words of eternal life. You are Christ the Son of the living God.” Jesus has the answers. The answers may be hard, some may be easy but all the answers of Jesus are right and pure.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.  John 14:6

Don’t walk away from Jesus but towards Him. He is patiently waiting.

Have a blessed day,

Hurricane preparations

Everyone is rushing around getting prepared for the hurricane. Our yard is picked up and ready for the wind. All “missiles” have been put away. A missile is anything that the wind can pick up and fling through the air. Candles, flashlights, lanterns, and camping cook stoves are all taken out from storage places and put where they are easily assessable.

Non-perishable food and easy to prepare food is at the ready. Water is a valuable resource during a storm; most homes have plenty of bottled water. As we are preparing for this hurricane I think of how many people will prepare for today but forgot about preparing for the future.

As I was getting ready I thought of all the things Jesus is to me.

Light of the world
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. John 8:12

Living water
Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. John 4:10

But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. John 4:14

Food for my soul
For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. John 6:33 -35

Shelter in the time of storm
For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. Psalm 61:3

As you “button down all the hatches” in your homes, remember Jesus is a shelter in the time of storm, rest in Him.

Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him . . . Psalm 37:7

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. Matthew 11:29
