Meaningful Songs

The Bible is silent about the day before Jesus rose from the grave, but a couple of songwriters have put their thoughts on paper summing up exactly what Jesus did for you and me.

I Should Have Been Crucified
Gordon Jensen

I was guilty with nothing to say,
And they were coming to take me away.
But then a voice from heaven was heard, which said,
“Turn him loose, and take me instead!”

Chorus:
And I should have been crucified,
I should have suffered and died.
I should have hung on the cross in disgrace,
But Jesus, God’s Son, took my place.

Crown of thorns, the spear in His side,
And all the pain should have been mine.
Those rusty nails were meant for me,
But Jesus took them, and let me go free!

Jesus Paid It All
Elvina Hall
I hear the Savior say,
“Thy strength indeed is small;
Child of weakness, watch and pray,
Find in Me thine all in all.”

Refrain:
Jesus paid it all,
All to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white as snow.

For nothing good have I
Whereby Thy grace to claim;
I’ll wash my garments white
In the blood of Calv’ry’s Lamb.
And now complete in Him,
My robe, His righteousness,
Close sheltered ’neath His side,
I am divinely blest.

Lord, now indeed I find
Thy pow’r, and Thine alone,
Can change the leper’s spots
And melt the heart of stone.

When from my dying bed
My ransomed soul shall rise,
“Jesus died my soul to save,”
Shall rend the vaulted skies.

And when before the throne
I stand in Him complete,
I’ll lay my trophies down,
All down at Jesus’ feet.

Have you walked the Romans Road?

The Romans Road is a group of Bible verses that show the way of salvation in Jesus Christ.

Romans 3:10  As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
The Bible says no one is innocent.

Romans 3:23  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
We all have sin in our hearts. We all were born with sin.  We were born under the power of sin's control.
- Admit that you are a sinner.

Romans 5:12  Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
We all have original sin from Adam, the first man.

Romans 6:23  For the wages of sin is death; …
Sin has an ending.  It results in death.  We all face physical death, which is a result of sin.  But a worse death is spiritual death that alienates us from God, and will last for all eternity.
- Understand that you deserve death for your sin.

Romans 6:23  … but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Praise God that verse 23 doesn’t end with death. The verse continues BUT (God gives us a choice)
Salvation is a free gift from God to you!  You can't earn this gift, but you must reach out and receive it.
- Ask God to forgive you and save you.

Luke 13:3  I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
Repent means to think differently. We need to think differently about our sin and turn from it.

Romans 5:8  But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Jesus died for our sin, your sin and mine . He paid the price for all sin, when He took all the sins of the world on Himself on the cross.

Romans 10:9 -10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. [10]  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Rom 10:13  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
- If you know that God is knocking on your heart's door, ask Him to come into your heart.

Pray and ask Jesus to forgive you of your sin and come into your life and save you. Repent and turn to Him.

Have a blessed day,
Donna

Death to All

1  For all this I considered in my heart even to declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of God: no man knoweth either love or hatred by all that is before them. 2 All things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as is the good, so is the sinner; and he that sweareth, as he that feareth an oath. 3 This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event unto all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead. 4 For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion. 5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. 6  Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun. Ecclesiastes 9:1-6

The book of Ecclesiastes is very thought provoking. As I read, my thoughts range from  “Oh my” or “I agree” to “I don’t really like thinking about …” As I read chapter nine, I suddenly developed “writer's block” or I should say “thinker’s blog” I have been pondering over this chapter for the last few days.

It is not a subject most of us like to think about, but it is something none of us can avoid. We can try exercise, eating the “right foods”, fixing our hair, fixing our teeth and changing our looks but, the inevitable will happen, all will die.

Death comes to all; it comes to the old as well as the very young. The righteous die and the wicked die, the “good” die as well as the “not so good”. There is absolutely nothing we can do to stop it, all have an appointed time.

More people fear what will happen after death more than death itself. Death should not be feared. Each one of us can know where death will lead us, to heaven or to hell.

I  venture to say no one wants to go to hell. God, the wonderful heavenly Father has a plan so no one needs to go to hell. The plan is called salvation. Are you unsure of where you will go after death? Take a few minutes to read the verses below:

Falling apart gate

Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. James 1:21

As I continue looking at gates, I came across a gate that was falling apart. This gate reminded me of a life separated from Christ or a life without Christ. Is the gate around your heart falling apart? Is it alienated from God? Does your life seem like it is falling apart because you have strayed so far away. Being far away from God can be a lonely place indeed.

There may be many reasons why the gate of our heart is falling apart. The reason might be obvious or it might be something hidden in the recesses of our mind. Only we know the answer.

It doesn’t matter why the heart gate is falling apart, what matters is what we are going to do about it. Is there a time in your life that you repented of your sin and asked Jesus to forgive you and save you? Did you answer yes? God has not moved He is still there waiting to welcome you back into His love and care.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I John 1:9

Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. … James 4:8

Was the answer to the question no? God is patiently waiting to make you part of His family. Don’t be like King Agrippa in Acts 26 who said to Paul, “almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian” If you know you are not a Christian and would like to be one please see below.

Start today by repairing the gate of your heart by accepting the love of Jesus. Jesus died for the sins of the world. Won’t you accept His sacrifice for you? Please let me know if you asked Jesus to save you, by leaving me a comment.

Dear Heavenly Father, if there is anyone who does not know you as savior please soften their heart. Let them know that you are willing and waiting to accept them into your kingdom. Amen.

Have a blessed day,Donna
